The short answer
A crypto presale is a token sale that happens before the token is publicly tradeable. The project sells a portion of its supply directly to early buyers — usually in stages with rising prices — to fund development and bootstrap a community. In return, early buyers get a lower price than the eventual public listing.
How a typical presale is structured
1. Private rounds with rising stage prices
Most presales run several rounds where each stage costs more than the last. Rising stages reward the earliest buyers and create a transparent price ladder. For example, the Advance Bit Coin ($ABC) presale runs three private stages — $0.01, $0.03, $0.05 — followed by a public sale at $0.08 and a listing price of $0.10.
2. Payment in an established currency
You pay with an existing asset — commonly a stablecoin like USDT, or the chain's native coin (SOL, ETH, BNB). Stablecoin pricing keeps the math simple: USDT spent ÷ stage price = tokens received. If you've never moved a stablecoin across chains, read how to buy presale tokens with USDT on Solana first.
3. Allocation now, distribution at TGE
Your purchase is recorded immediately, but the tokens are delivered at the TGE (token generation event) — the moment the token goes live for trading. Some projects add vesting (gradual release) for large or team allocations to protect the launch price.
4. Launch and listing
After the presale, the token lists on a launchpad (like PinkSale), a DEX, or a centralized exchange. This is when presale buyers can first trade what they bought.
Why projects run presales
- Funding — development, liquidity, audits and marketing get funded without banks or VCs.
- Distribution — tokens start in the hands of many small holders rather than a few whales.
- Proof of demand — a well-run presale demonstrates a real community before launch.
The risks — read this part twice
Presales sit at the riskiest end of crypto. The project may never ship, the token may list below the presale price, and the space attracts scammers because buyers pay before the product exists. Non-negotiables before you buy any presale:
- Verify the token contract address from the official site — not from a DM or a Telegram forward.
- Prefer on-chain, wallet-to-wallet payments you can verify on a block explorer over "send funds to this address and trust us".
- Read the tokenomics — supply, allocations, burns and vesting. If they're vague, walk away.
- Only risk what you can afford to lose. No exceptions.

What a transparent presale looks like
The strongest trust signal is verifiability: payments that settle wallet-to-wallet on a public chain, a published token mint address, a raised counter that matches on-chain data, and receipts anyone can open on a block explorer. That's the standard the $ABC presale is built to — every buy is a Solana transaction you can audit on Solscan.
